Location

The Epstein Family Amphitheater is located in the Pepper Canyon Neighborhood at UC San Diego. The east entrance is located off of Lyman Lane/Innovation Lane and Rupertus Lane.

Directions

From the North:
Take I-5 south and exit La Jolla Village Drive. Use the right lanes to turn right onto La Jolla Village Drive and take the first right onto Villa La Jolla Drive.

From the South:
Take I-5 north and exit La Jolla Village Drive. Use the left lanes to turn left onto La Jolla Village Drive and take the first right onto Villa La Jolla Drive.

Parking

UC San Diego requires parking permits 7 days a week. Permit Pay Station is available at each of the parking lot OR Pay By App! Parkmobile is UC San Diego’s app-based parking payment partner for campus visitors. Visitors can park in any V space and use the visitor zone number 4752 for the main campus. A, B, and S spots are available for visitors after 4 pm.

If you do plan to pay for parking on campus, we recommend arriving early and allowing for time to find a spot.

Public Transportation

Leave your car at home! The Epstein Family Amphitheater is located off of the UC San Diego Blue Line Trolley at the Central Campus Station. For more information about the trolley, visit the MTS website >

Food & Drink

Food and drink will be available for purchase in the venue at most events. Please check specific event page for food & drink information. Food vendors are cashless. Water stations are available within the venue for water bottles.

Venue Accessibility

If you have a Disabled Person (DP) placard or license plates, you can park in these spaces without a UC San Diego parking permit:

  • Accessible spaces designated by the wheelchair symbol, found in every UC San Diego parking lot
  • Metered spaces (no fee required)
  • Spaces marked S, B or A (see below for exception)

Disabled Person placard or plates alone are not valid in:

  • Spaces posted “A Permit required 7 days a week/ 24 hours a day”
  • Spaces marked “Reserved”
  • Areas painted with crosshatching or marked “No Parking”
  • Areas that are not designated parking spaces
  • Red curb, fire lane or yellow commercial zones (unless license plate allows)
  • Timed loading zones, beyond the specified time

There are a number of parking structures on campus where you can purchase parking. Visitors can park in any V, A, B, and S spaces daily from 4 pm – 7 am.  Permit pay station is available at each parking lot or use the Parkmobile App, Zone number 4752.

You may bring in empty refillable water bottles, small personal bags (16” x 16 “ x 8”).  You can bring in personal seat cushions, blankets, or seating, as long as they fit your personal space and lie flat on the ground/bench (no legs, no hard structure). 

We encourage that you dress in layers and for those who have tickets to the General Lawn Section to wear shoes without heels. 

Prohibited items include: strollers, large backpacks, large blankets, flags, tobacco products, alcohol, cans, bottles, ice chests, picnic baskets, lawn furniture, weapons of any kind, umbrellas, pets, hula hoops, musical instruments, laser pointers, bicycles, and skateboards.  Cameras with a detachable lens of any kind and professional recording devices are not allowed, including GoPros. If you have questions, please contact amphitheater@ucsd.edu.

For the safety and comfort of all, you may not bring lawn chairs or furniture. The lawn is quite steep and not safe for lawn chairs. You can bring in personal seat cushions, blankets, or seating, as long as they fit your personal space and lie flat on the ground (no legs, no hard structure). We encourage the same for the stone bench seating areas on both General Admission and reserved seating shows.

The Epstein Family Amphitheater features a variety of rotating food and concessions vendors across our events.  The vendors may vary depending on the event nights, please check @ucsdamphitheater on Instagram for updates.

For most events, Beer and Wine is available for patrons of age.

Only factory sealed water bottles and empty reusable water bottles are permitted into the Epstein Family Amphitheater.

Small bag within the size 16” x 16” x 8” are allowed. All bags are subject to search by security officers.

Scooters, skateboards, roller skates, and other recreational wheeled equipment are not permitted at the Epstein Family Amphitheater.

The Epstein Family Amphitheater is located in the Pepper Canyon Neighborhood on the UC San Diego campus, located right next to the UC San Diego Central Campus Station off of the Blue Line Trolley. See LINK for more information (anchor tag).

As an institution committed to providing a safe and healthful environment and in compliance with California State law, the University prohibits the sale, advertising, use and or Smoking/ Vaping of, Tobacco or Marijuana/ Cannabis on University Controlled Property, including parking lots. Smoking or tobacco use is not permitted in any indoor or outdoor area on University Controlled Property.

Children ages two and older require a ticket. Children under 2 are admitted free without a ticket. Out of consideration for other patrons, please use discretion when choosing to bring a young child or infant. 

 

Strollers and wagons are not permitted inside the Epstein Family Amphitheater.

During events, only service animals trained to perform specific tasks are permitted at the amphitheater.

In line with current mandates, we no longer require masks, proof of vaccination, or a negative covid test to enter the Epstein Family Amphitheater. However, we still strongly encourage you to get vaccinated and boosted if you haven’t already, and to mask up whenever possible!

The campus recommends the use of N-95 and KN-95 masks. A face covering/face mask DOES NOT include a scarf, ski mask, balaclava, bandana, gaiter, turtleneck, collar, plastic face shield, or single layer of fabric.

The Epstein Family Amphitheater values the safety of all students, faculty, staff and guests of the campus. The amphitheater reserves the right to employ a magnetometer (metal detector) at campus events. All guests at the amphitheater are subject to search, including screening with a metal detector, before being admitted.

Typically, entrance gates open one hour before the advertised event start times.  Please be sure to check @ucsdamphitheater on Instagram for additional event updates.

Notice of Filming & Photography

When you enter Epstein Family Amphitheater event or program, you enter an area where photography, audio, and video recording may occur.

By entering the event premises, you consent to interview(s), photography, audio recording, video recording and its/their release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for news, web casts, promotional purposes, telecasts, advertising, inclusion on websites, social media, or any other purpose by Epstein Family Amphitheater and its affiliates and representatives. Images, photos and/or videos may be used to promote similar Epstein Family Amphitheater events in the future, highlight the event and exhibit the capabilities of Epstein Family Amphitheater.  You release Epstein Family Amphitheater, its staff, and each and all persons involved from any liability connected with the taking, recording, digitizing, or publication and use of interviews, photographs, computer images, video and/or or sound recordings. 

By entering the event premises, you waive all rights you may have to any claims for payment or royalties in connection with any use, exhibition, streaming, web casting, televising, or other publication of these materials, regardless of the purpose or sponsoring of such use, exhibiting, broadcasting, web casting, or other publication irrespective of whether a fee for admission or sponsorship is charged. You also waive any right to inspect or approve any photo, video, or audio recording taken by Epstein Family Amphitheater or the person or entity designated to do so by Epstein Family Amphitheater. 

You have been fully informed of your consent, waiver of liability, and release before entering the event.
